Japanese

I started learning Japanese in 2011 at the local adult education centre in Germany. I attended the whole course until it ended July 2017 when our teacher - a Japanese native - decided to move away. Unfortunately they offered only 24 evenings a year and each lesson was only 90 minutes.

So I decided to speed things up and went to Japanese school in Tokyo in 2016 including a home stay. What should I say: I still have a long way to go, but I'm more motivated than ever before. Seems to be clear where I will spend my next vacations...

  • January to April 2016 (12 weeks) visiting 3 courses (each 4 weeks) at the language school. All 12 weeks included a home stay.
  • September to October 2016 (4 weeks) visiting another course (4 weeks) also including a home stay (4 weeks).
  • September 2017 (4 weeks) visiting another course (4 weeks) also including a home stay (4 weeks).
  • February 2018 (3 weeks) visiting a private course (3 weeks) also including a home stay (3 weeks).
  • October to November 2018 (4.5 weeks) visiting another course (4 weeks) also including a home stay (4.5 weeks).
  • March to April 2019 (4.5 weeks) visiting another course (4 weeks), but using a rental apartment.

In December 2018 I participated successfully in the JLPT (日本語能力試験) and obtained a JLPT N4 certificate.

As the next step I'm planning to take the JLPT N3.

P.S.: If you're looking for a Japanese language school in Tokyo, I recommend the KAI Japanese Language School. They have really great teachers, offer different types of courses (as well as private lessons) and you have the chance to meet a lot of nice and unique classmates from all over the world. I also recommend to do a home stay during that time. You will be able to get more involved in Japanese culture and Japanese society.
